On this Remembrance Day, I want to pay tribute to all of our servicemen and women, who have shown, and continue to show, such bravery and strength. It is important to remember all those who lost their lives fighting for our country and our freedom.

It was an honour to join the Remembrance Day parade and lay a wreath alongside our amazing ex-servicemen and women. It was also brilliant to have representatives of all parts of our community joining in this.
It was a wonderful service hosted by Halifax Minster, who were joined by our amazing veterans and the brilliant Calderdale Interfaith community.
Events like this bring our community together and provide an important opportunity for reflection. Thank you to everyone involved for organising the service, and to so many people for attending. It was incredibly moving.

Earlier in the week, I planted Halifax’s remembrance cross in the House of Commons’ Garden of Remembrance.
We remember all those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms.
They will not be forgotten.

Although it put our fitness to the test, it was also great to play my part in this year’s annual poppy ride in Parliament, organised by the Industry and Parliament Trust and Poppy Appeal to raise awareness and funds for the Poppy Appeal.
We will remember them.
