Residents tell me the frustrations they have with our local buses – from delayed buses to cancelled routes, I know the very real impact this has on local people’s lives.
That’s why Mayor Tracy Brabin is bringing our buses back under local control, with powers over routes, timetables and fares, so decisions are made locally and services work for local people.
Labour’s Buses Act also introduces tighter restrictions to end vital routes being cancelled at short notice, provides new powers to enable local authorities to create their own bus companies that meet local need and mandates training, to help deal with anti-social behaviour and crime on our public transport.
Ahead of buses coming into local control, I want to hear about your experiences, so I can feed back to our Mayor and our local Council.
