Jobs Fair

Come along to my jobs fair on Friday June 19th, which will see students, jobseekers and employers brought together. The aim of this is to help connect job-seekers with local employers, as well as to increase the practical opportunities available to local residents, to ensure they’re confident and equipped to take their next steps into the world of work.

The King’s Centre, Park Road, Halifax, HX1 2TS

The event will be attended by C+K Careers, the Halifax Job Centre, as well as a range of brilliant local employers.

As well as stalls, you can also sign up to attend several free workshops taking place, including on how best to find job opportunities, and how to prepare for interviews.

There are only 14 places available for each session, which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis – so sign up fast!

10.00am Session 1: Labour Market Trends

Gain valuable insight into the world of work in Calderdale and beyond. This session will help you understand what labour market information is and why it matters when planning your next career move. You’ll also explore how recognising your strengths, skills, and areas for development can help you stay competitive in an ever-changing employment landscape. 11.00am Session 2: Job Search Strategies That Work

Searching for a job can feel overwhelming—but with the right approach, it can also be an exciting opportunity. In this session, we’ll share 10 practical tips to help you navigate the UK job market with confidence. From knowing where to look, to overcoming common challenges, you’ll gain strategies that really make a difference. Each tip is supported by real-life examples and proven solutions, giving you the tools and confidence to take your next step towards employment.

12.00pm Session 3: Interview Skills – Make a Lasting Impression

Interviews can be daunting, but preparation is key to success. This session will help you understand the purpose of interviews and explore the different types you may encounter. You’ll learn how to prepare effectively and respond to questions with confidence using the STAR technique. We’ll also share tips on making a strong first impression—helping you present yourself positively and professionally from the moment you walk in.
